Volunteers are always welcome be they interns, expats or medical students. Our internship positions are open to international and Mexican national students, while expats and non-student Mexicans are invited to apply as general volunteers. We are very flexible and happy to adapt to the times you are available.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 

Health education

  • Organize and manage the BAI peer-to-peer education program (TEAMM)

  • Communicate and build relationships with administrators of participating schools

  • Plan and lead bi-monthly meetings for TEAMM students to improve their public speaking, classroom management, leadership and health education skills

Medicine and Nursing

  • Organize and administer regular HIV testing and counseling events, including preparing materials and maintaining an inventory of supplies

  • Provide one-on-one testing and counseling at the BAI office as needed

  • Plan and conduct rapid HIV testing and counseling workshops to train new volunteers... See PDF

Fundraising

  • Collaborate with Coordinators and Fundraising Committee to send newsletters and periodic communications to donors

  • Develop relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders and donors

  • Research and contact potential funding resources

Psychotherapy

  • Help the psychotherapist prepare the topic of each session by sourcing materials and educational videos, preparing group activities, etc.

  • Attend and assist with the actuation of group sessions

  • Plan and attend community public sessions, including tasks such as organizing material for the guest speaker’s presentation, and general logistics

  • Researching current and emerging psychotherapy topics to write brief reports for the website and give bimonthly community presentation... See PDF

Adminstration

  • Prepare reports, presentations, operational documents and other communications containing descriptive, analytical and evaluative content related to business and operational activities 

  • Help design and update organizational and programmatic brochures, fliers, etc.

  • Monitor and maintain the inventory of stockroom materials

Nutrition

  • Provide nutrition counseling to BAI clients in conjunction with their medical and/or psychological appointments

  • Develop meal plans tailored to the medicinal and nutritional needs of BAI clients

Social Media and Marketing

  • Create high-quality original written and visual content for a social media campaign

  • Develop useful marketing strategies to boost BAI’s presence in the community

  • Collaborate with the Fundraising committee to design posters, fliers, etc. for events

  • Assist staff with producing quarterly newsletters for donors

  • Communicate with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner

Research

  • Collaborate with staff to conduct data analysis, research and investigation of recent literature as needed for various organizational projects
